Land, Structures and Real Estate Trading

Course Highlights


This course provides an overview of how land and property are registered and how ownership occurs. 

Course topics include: 

  • Municipal planning and land use regulations
  • Key elements in the construction of homes and buildings
  • Process of determining the value of a property
  • Process of trading in real estate
  • Appropriate legislation related to the trading process (e.g., Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002)
  • Representation relationships

Successful completion of: Real Estate as a Professional Career

The Real Estate Transaction - General

Fee $425

In the Pre-registration Segment, students must take the Real Estate Transaction–General, the Residential Real Estate Transaction, and the Commercial Real Estate Transaction. The Residential Real Estate Transaction may be taken in class. Content from the Real Estate Transaction–General will be included as part of the examination for the accompanying course: the Residential Real Estate Transaction or the Commercial Real Estate Transaction. 

Students may choose to take the Real Estate Transaction–General and the Residential Real Estate Transaction entirely in an 80-hour classroom session.

This course provides an overview of the real estate transaction, from listing agreement through to the final sale.

Successful completion of: Land, Structures and Real Estate Trading

The Residential Real Estate Transaction

As an alternative to taking this course independently through a 40-hour classroom session, students may enrol in a combined 80-hour classroom session of The Real Estate Transaction—General and The Residential Real Estate Transaction.

This course provides a detailed overview of residential real estate transactions from listing agreement through to final sale, and explores current trends and issues that impact residential real estate.

The course explores the mortgage market and provides hands-on exposure to forms, applications, and mortgage calculations. 

Real Estate Investment Analysis

Course Highlights


The course explores the increasingly sophisticated demands of commercial real estate clients and investors, who require complex calculations and valuations. This course also covers analytical methodology of comparing cash flows and returns to determine the present value of future benefits.

Principles of Property Management

The course covers the day-to-day issues and responsibilities of property managers. 

Real Estate Broker Course

Fee $925

Course Highlights


This course covers the establishment, operation, and management of a real estate brokerage.

Course topics include:

  • Overview of the real estate profession and the skills required by brokers/salespeople
  • Importance of economics, demographics, and geography on real estate values
  • Consumer buying habits and marketing methods
  • A basic overview of mathematics

Important note: Registrants must apply for broker registration within 12 months of successfully completing the Real Estate Broker Course examination.

*Individuals who have not taken Phase 3 Commercial must take The Commercial Real Estate Transaction as the additional Elective course.
