Ontario REALTORS® made a significant contribution in support of human rights with a donation of $55,000 to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg. The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) joins the real estate community around the country contributing to this important institution.
Ontario REALTORS® made a significant contribution in support of human rights with a donation of $55,000 to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg. The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) joins the real estate community around the country contributing to this important institution.
Toronto – December 16, 2011 – Ontario REALTORS® made a significant contribution in support of human rights with a donation of $55,000 to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg. The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) joins the real estate community around the country contributing to this important institution.
Real Estate Boards and Associations across the country have been supporting this endeavour with "the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights" campaign with a goal to raise $150 million;$125 million has been raised to date.
Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the mission of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is to enhance the understanding of human rights, to promote respect for others, and to encourage reflection and dialogue. When it is completed in 2012, the museum will serve as a centre of learning where Canadians and people from around the world can engage in discussion and commit to taking action against hate and oppression.
"REALTORS® care about the communities they live in and get directly involved in making them better," says Barb Sukkau, OREA President. "The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is an embodiment of Canada's commitment to democracy, freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. We subscribe to a Quality of Life philosophy and recognize the importance of this project to improve life in our community."
