Home buyers deserve the highest level of consumer protection when purchasing a home.
"Home buying is one of the largest financial, and most emotional, transactions Ontarians will make in their lives. Home buyers deserve the highest level of consumer protection when purchasing a home. And now more than ever, they should be confident that the home they put so much into is safe and built properly.
OREA would like to congratulate Minister of Government and Consumer Services Lisa Thompson and the Ford Government on today’s passing of the Rebuilding Consumer Confidence Act, 2019. The new Bill would overhaul the Ontario new home warranty and protection program, reform the Tarion Warranty Corporation, and put more of a focus on consumers who are making the biggest financial decision of their lives.
During a time like this, it’s more important than ever that consumers trust the programs and services delivered by administrative authorities like Tarion. Ontario REALTORS® are pleased to see that the Ford Government is committed to establishing a higher standard for honesty, integrity, and professionalism in the home buying process.
I want to thank Minister Thompson for bringing this Act forward, protecting the rights and rebuilding the confidence of the people of Ontario."
