Ontario REALTORS® gather at Annual General Meeting to discuss OREA’s next chapter

Change is on its way for Ontario’s 70,000 Realtors. Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) President Ettore Cardarelli, Immediate Past-President Ray Ferris, and CEO Tim Hudak addressed a packed room of over 300 OREA members and outlined the fresh direction for the Association.

Hudak discussed the importance of respecting members’ dues, doubling down on government relations, building on the strength of its products and services, and giving members the tools to help Ontarians achieve their dreams of home ownership.

“The Board of Directors hired me to shake things up at OREA,” said Hudak. “This 95-year old professional association has been helping Realtors do their jobs for a long time. But from what I learned in my first three months on the job, is that Ontario Realtors are ready for change. They want an Association that is more nimble in decision making and is going to fight harder to help Realtors help Ontarians achieve their dream of home ownership.”

More than 300 Realtors from all across Ontario heard yesterday that OREA will be focusing on priorities such as government relations and leadership training, reducing administration costs and turning up the volume on issues of importance to Realtors and Ontario home owners, buyers and sellers.

“Realtors help first-time buyers, young families, downsizers with buying and selling homes on a daily basis – as far as real estate is concerned, we know what keeps them up at night,” said Ettore Cardarelli. “That’s why, going forward, OREA and its members will continue to advocate on behalf of Ontario’s home owners. It is our mission to be the unapologetic defender of home ownership in the province.”

“The pace of change in today’s real estate industry is rapid,” said Ray Ferris. “In order to provide the best service to their clients, Realtors need to stay ahead of the curve. OREA’s fresh approach is simply our way of making sure that our members have the tools they need to help make Ontarians’ dreams of home ownership a reality.”

The Ontario Real Estate Association serves its members through a wide variety of publications, educational programs and special services. Its goals include promoting higher industry standards and protecting private property rights.
