“Ontario Realtors’ primary goal is to ensure the Canadian dream of home ownership stays within reach for middle class families and the next generation. The only way to do this is by increasing housing supply. Over the last several months, Ontario Realtors put a number of pro-home ownership proposals before the government and we were very pleased to see most of those ideas captured in the Budget last week.
It is too early to tell if the Fair Housing Plan has had an immediate impact. The government had some good ideas for increasing supply in its Plan and Budget. We encourage them to proceed aggressively on those commitments. The sooner those commitments are met, the better. More homes on the market means more choice for buyers and a better chance at home ownership for millennials and young families.”
