Are you ready for Bluetooth?

While “Bluetooth” may sound like something your dentist should warn you about, it's actually a new technology that is going to change the way people interact with machines.

While “Bluetooth” may sound like something your dentist should warn you about, it's actually a new technology that is going to change the way people interact with machines.

Bluetooth is a computer chip that can replace the cables connecting your computer to your printer, mouse, keyboard, monitor and whatever else you have hooked up.  Bluetooth is a small, inexpensive radio chip plugged into computers, printers, mobile phones, etc. A Bluetooth chip is designed to replace cables by taking the information normally carried by the cable, and transmitting it at a special frequency to a receiver Bluetooth chip, which will then give the information received to the computer, phone or whatever device you are using. With Bluetooth enabled devices you can communicate, access the Internet, e-mail and get information services wherever and whenever you want -- all wirelessly.

Initially conceived by Ericsson, Bluetooth technology has been adopted by many other companies including Motorola, Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Nokia… to name a few. It’s predicted that eventually, Bluetooth technology will be present in just about every device imaginable including our appliances.

Imagine if …you'’re stuck in rush hour traffic so you decide to transmit your latest listing to the MLS via your cell phone and while you'’re at it you can start that load of washing and check the inventory in your refrigerator. Who said the Jetsons were fantasy?
