Barisa reaches CSAE Pinnacle

OREA CEO Ed Barisa has won the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) 2007 Pinnacle Award.

OREA CEO Ed Barisa has won the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) 2007 Pinnacle Award. The award recognizes an executive member who has demonstrated exceptional and outstanding leadership qualities within his or her own association, contributed to other voluntary organizations and the community-at-large, and to the CSAE at both the local and national levels.

CSAE chair, Colleen MacDougall, in presenting the award in October at CSAE’s national conference in Hamilton, recognized Barisa as “an outstanding leader, with a clear vision for the future, and the ability to communicate and motivate both staff and volunteers to share that vision.”

MacDougall also praised the former teacher for his “passion for mentoring” and his delight “in watching people grow under his guidance.”

Barisa was the first recipient of the Certified Association Executive (CAE®) designation under Prior Learning Assessment Recognition, a process which fast-tracks the CAE applicant by giving credit to previous knowledge, skill and abilities related to not-for-profit management. Barisa currently sits on the task force overseeing a major revamping of the CAE program, further demonstrating his commitment to the CSAE and volunteerism.

MacDougall said: “He is an exemplary role model for his own organization and an outstanding contributor and ambassador for our sector.”
