According to a recent Toronto Star article, prices for a standard cottage, condo or chalet are up between nine and 10 per cent from last year. The same conditions that have created the hot housing market such as low interest rates, strong economic conditions and steady job creation are the reasons cited for the cottage boom in many areas across Canada. As well, the demand for cottage properties is being fuelled largely by baby boomers.
