When the buyer is a customer

What do you do when a buyer decides to select Customer status rather than become a Client of your firm?

What do you do when a buyer decides to select Customer status rather than become a Client of your firm?
It's not appropriate for the brokerage to enter into a buyer agency agreement with the buyer since the buyer does not want to be in an agency relationship with the firm. In some cases, the real estate brokerage agrees to work with the buyer as a Customer, but the buyer believes that they have achieved Client status. And, in other instances, there is confusion as to what a buyer can expect from a firm with which he/she has Customer status, rather than an agency relationship.

In all cases, there may be a need to establish the parameters of what the brokerage can do for the buyer, as a Customer.
