OREA volunteer leadership training in demand

The leadership training that has been developed by the OREA Centre for Leadership Development is in demand from other outside organizations.

The leadership training that has been developed by the OREA Centre for Leadership Development is in demand from other outside organizations. The National Association of REALTORS® in the United States has chosen to share our cutting-edge leadership training with their American members. Over the past year, OREA staff and REALTORS® have conducted “train the trainer” sessions in various cities, including Washington, Chicago, and New Orleans. Jamie Edwards of Burlington and Laura Leyser of Stratford were among the facilitators to lead the U.S. pilot projects in the U.S. This initiative marks the first time that OREA and a large external association have partnered for training.

“This really is a fabulous program,” says Sherry Tilley of the Indiana Association of REALTORS®, who attended a session in New Orleans and found it very valuable to volunteer leaders. “It’s an opportunity for us to begin to develop our members’ leadership skills in the early stages of their involvement rather than waiting until they take the reins of their associations. Pro-active development will really help to maximize their roles, the outcomes for their associations and the long-term value they gain from their volunteer time.”
