OREA past-president Laura Leyser has been appointed to serve as a member of the board of directors of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

Leyser, president in 2004, is one of five taxpayer representatives appointed by the Ministry of Finance to the 15-member board. It is a three-year term.

“MPAC has a lot of work ahead of it to implement the recommendations of the Ontario Ombudsman, and I am eager to contribute my time and energy to the process to ensure consumers are protected,” said Leyser.

Carl Isenburg, MPAC's president and chief administrative officer, said that the board has good representation, and that its make-up of municipal, provincial and taxpayer representatives is “great for discussion, great for representation of interests and great for focus and direction.”

Active in the real estate profession for 18 years, Leyser is a sales representative with

RE/MAX a-b Realty Ltd. She is a past president of the Perth County Real Estate Board, a member of the Huron Perth Real Estate Board and has served on several OREA committees.
