The Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) has awarded the 2005 Associations Make a Better Canada Award for Ethical, Technical or Professional Standards to OREA for its Volunteer Handbook. The award will be presented at a special Honours and Awards Ceremony as part of CSAE’s National Conference and Showcase on October 1 in Prince Edward Island.

The Associations Make A Better Canada Awards recognize CSAE member organizations that have initiated innovative projects resulting in positive outcomes in the areas of public education/information, public affairs/government relations, professional development and education, and ethical, technical or professional standards. In their evaluation, the CSAE judges stated, “OREA’s Volunteer Handbook – an innovative, practical guide containing templates and checklists that clearly enables members to improve any aspect of the volunteer process -- has been enthusiastically embraced by the organization’s member volunteers. A growing number of other CSAE-member organizations are also adapting the handbook as a template for their own programs.”

CSAE’s mission is to promote the value of not-for-profit organizations and promote the professionalism of its members through relevant education, advocacy, information and research.
