The Insurance Bureau of Canada suggests things to do around the house between the end of daylight savings time and the winter solstice. They are: Test and maintain your smoke detectors; check your carbon monoxide detectors; review your family’s emergency plan; update your emergency kit; check your first-aid kit and replace missing supplies; get your fuel-burning appliances inspected by a professional; check your chimney and vents; check your car’s tire pressure and fluid levels and ensure all lights and signals are working; update your home inventory; review your insurance policy.
